Frances Ferguson works on eighteenth and nineteenth century literature and on literary theory. She has taught at Johns Hopkins University, the University of California-Berkeley, and the University of Chicago.

She is completing a book on the rise of education in the eighteenth century,  and is thinking about eighteenth century congregational hymns and contemporary digital technologies.
